Nevada Society of Scottish Clans presents their 40th Annual Robert Burns Celebration featuring dinner and program with traditional Robert Burns Ceremonies. The Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band will perform and the Silver Thistle Award for Scot of the Year will be revealed. Events before dinner include a Whisky Tasting hosted by Pernod Ricard U.S.A. and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits with special gust host Master of Whisky, Dr. Tom Turner. Other events include Celtic music, a whisky raffle, and the fund raising NSSC raffle.

May 14 4 PM Tartan Mini Golf Magic Carpet Golf
6925 South Virginia Street, Reno
Kilt up and head to Magic Carpet Golf for our Annual Tartan Mini Golf Tournament. This is a fun event for people of all ages. Come and join in the fun. Who knows . . . you might be the winner of one of our fun prizes. We’ll gather afterwards at a local restaurant to swap stories of our golfing adventure.

The Blarney Band and The Fire will perform a concert on Saturday, May 21st, in the 400 block of East Fourth Street near the corner of Valley Road in what is known as the "Downtown Reno Brewery District." There will be food trucks, Celtic organization tents and performers related to the festival in the shared parking lot of Black Rabbit Mead Company, Lead Dog Brewery and Nevada Sunset Winery, who are co-sponsoring the event.

Nevada Society of Scottish Clans will participate in the Great Basin Highland Games premiere event by hosting three tents where we share heritage information. We assist visitors to determine their clan and discover their tartan colors. Various food and beverage will be available. We invite all to come out and enjoy watching the Highland athletes compete. A great way to enjoy Scottish heritage.
July 17 2 PM Kilted Bowling High Sierra Lanes

We’re bringing back a Nevada Society of Scottish Clans oldie-but-goodie gathering with an afternoon of BOWLING – it may not be exactly the same game as that one invented by the Scots, but we’re going to make good-old American bowling Scottish for the afternoon! Join us at High Sierra Lanes (3390 S. Virginia Street) at 2:00 on Sunday, July 17 – go ahead and wear your kilt to really “Scot it up.” The price is $4.50 per person per game for adults, $3.75 for under 17 and over 55, or $18 per hour per lane. (Shoe rental is $3.75). Come gather with friends out of the summer heat, show off your skills, enjoy some bowling snacks and drinks, and maybe win a prize!

Join in the fun at our Annual Picnic. Come stake your claim starting at 10:00... grillers will start serving at 11:30. Bangers, hot dogs, chips, beverages, and condiments will be provided. Bring your own salad, side dishes, and desserts for your family or friend group. (We are opting to not have a complete potluck set-up, but there are no Covid restrictions so if you choose, feel free to bring something to share with the group.) The fun does not stop at the meal. The afternoon is filled with music by the Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band, a raffle, the infamous haggis toss, and other activities. This year we are having a cornhole tournament with our custom Scottish cornhole boards. Prizes for 1st and 2nd place. Get your two person teams ready.

All Hallows Eve, better known as Halloween, has its roots in one of the four Gaelic fire festivals, Samhain. How did this happen and what part of the ancient marking of a new year lingers on today? Find out what is the same, what has changed over the centuries and why. Come to our gathering and find some interesting Scottish roots in our modern day celebration of ghosts, goblins, skeletons, pumpkins, costumes and trick-or-treating. In addition to the presentation, the October Gathering of the Clans is when our Board of Director candidates for the coming year are announced. Nominations are taken from the floor in preparation for the Annual Meeting in November.

All members are encouraged to attend the Society’s Annual Meeting. Reports for the year are given and the election of officers takes place. Come participate in the Annual Meeting.
December 10 5 PM Christmas Party
Nevada Society of Scottish Clans celebrates this festive season with an evening that includes a potluck dinner, raffle and music. Come celebrate with us at St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church at 4795 Lakeside Dr. The Society will provide both turkey and ham. Please bring an appetizer, salad, side dish, or dessert to share.
