Nevada Society of Scottish Clans presents their 41st Annual Robert Burns Celebration featuring dinner and program with traditional Robert Burns Ceremonies. The Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band will perform and the Silver Thistle Award for Scot of the Year will be revealed. Events before dinner include a Whisky Tasting hosted by Breakthru Beverage Nevada, featuring six diverse whiskies. Other events include Celtic music, whisky raffle, and the fund raising NSSC raffle.

Paul McFarlane, 2023 Scot of the Year and Director of Fleischmann Planetarium, invites NSSC to Scots in Space. Scottish Actor David Tennant narrates a brilliant tour of the Universe in this exciting full-dome show at the Fleischmann Planetarium. NSSC member and participants who attended the 2023 Robert Burns Dinner are invited to help us celebrate space -- and the 60th Anniversary of Nevada's First Planetarium!

TMCC's Elizabeth Sturm Library Genealogy Lab will play host to our Thursday, March 9 Gathering. Suzanne Malek, TMCC's Reference/Genealogy Librarian, and Richard Dalton, the Society's Genealogist will take us on a tour of the growing Family History Research Room, and introduce us to the research lab. You will be able to login to a computer to learn about and explore the genealogical resources available for free at TMCC and at home, library guides, periodicals and so much more. What a great way to start, or continue exploring your family tree!

Nevada Society of Scottish Clans returns to the Nevada State Legislature! Get your tartan on and come represent your heritage in Carson City. The Society greets legislators and visitors, displays our literature, genealogy reference books, and offers shortbread to share our Scottish heritage.

Nevada Society of Scottish Clans will participate in the 2nd Annual Great Basin Scottish Highland Games by hosting tents where we share Society and heritage information. We assist visitors to determine their clan and discover their tartan colors. Various food and beverage will be available. We invite all to come out and enjoy watching the Highland athletes compete. A great way to enjoy Scottish heritage.
June 10 3 PM Tartan Mini Golf Tournament Wild Island Mini Golf
250 Wild Island Court, Sparks, NV
Kilt up and head to Wild Island Mini Golf for our Annual Tartan Mini Golf Tournament. This is a fun event for people of all ages. Come and join in the fun. Who knows... you might be the Grand Champion or win one of our fun prizes. After golf, we will gather for dinner at a nearby restaurant to swap stories of our golfing adventure. Cost is $10 per person.

Reno Public Market is hosting a Celtic evening. Featured performers will include Last Night's Folly, Trad, Sierra Silverstrings, Bagpiper Sean Cummings, Scottish Highland Dancers, Plastic Paddy, Karrie O'Niell with Kat MacMartin, and a very special surprise guest performance. Prepare to have a night to remember.

Join in the fun at our Annual Picnic. Come stake your claim starting at 10:00... grillers will start serving at 11:30. Bangers, hot dogs, chips, beverages, and condiments will be provided. The rest is potluck-style... bring your favorite appetizer, salad, side dishe, or dessert to share. The fun does not stop at the meal. The day is filled with music by the Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band, a raffle, Scottish cornhole, the infamous haggis toss, and other activities.

Come in costume and celebrate All Hallows Eve, better known as Halloween, or Samhain. Ron Cherry presents interesting Scottish roots in our modern day celebration of ghosts, goblins, skeletons, pumpkins, costumes and trick-or-treating. In addition to the presentation, our Board of Director candidates for the coming year are announced. Nominations are taken from the floor in preparation for the Annual Meeting in November.

19th Century Firefighting in Scotland by Steve Frady
Scotland is a country known for its many firsts and inventions, including the first organized municipal fire brigade in the world, established in Edinburgh in 1824. Steve will discuss 19th century firefighting from buckets and leather hose to pumpers and steamers. Antique fire memorabilia from his extensive collection will be shared.
